Originální abstrakt
This paper refers about behaviour and capacity of strengthened rods while under static load. A thin-walled T profile is subjected to axial force and a second flange is welded to the T profile thus creating an I profile. When the T profile is pressed, local buckling of thin web causes an eccentricity of loading force and therefore an additional bending moment. Because of initial stresses and deflected shape of the T profile, the strengthened I profile has lower resistance in comparison with a regular welded I profile. Knowing the loading sequence and a shape of imperfections of the newly created I profile, the reduction factor can be determined. Current standards do not refer to this problem. Analytical solution variants based on methods used in Eurocodes are introduced: the conservative approach using effective characteristics of T profile for calculation of stress from preload; the approach using full area of T profile; the approach using full area of I profile neglecting the loading history. The variant analytical solutions are compared with a finite element model in Midas FEA code. An experiment, described in this paper, is being prepared to validate the results from finite element models and suggested analytical approach.
