Originální abstrakt
The paper presents measurements of perturbed film variations during the passage across an EHL rolling–sliding contact. Perturbed film was produced by indentation on a ball. The data for increasing entrainment speed showed the change from steady to variable profile. A simple simulation of a film profile has provided an estimate of the through-film speed profile. The measured data can be explained by a transition from the plug-flow to the linear speed profile. It was found that the transition is occurring at different speed for two sliding cases. Two possible effects connected with an indentation impact on in-contact conditions were discussed.
