Abstrakt

The functional sample of the journal bearing No. 1 (FV1) is developed based on results of computational methods and optimisation strategies. The proposed design makes it possible to further reduce the friction losses in the turbocharger rotor system. The bearing contains modified working surfaces of defined shape. Based on the results of technical experiments carried out on the turbocharger with a new design of the bearing, the selected representative parameters were improved. Improvement of the performance characteristics in the form of power losses is achieved over the entire turbocharger operating speed range. The bearing and rotor assembly requires the specified radial bearing clearance designed with respect to the lubricant properties and operating conditions. The FV1 journal bearing functional sample is incorporated into the technical experiment that are part of the turbocharger bearing test program and are verified using series of measurements.
