Cílem projektu je rozšířit naše znalosti nelineárních efektů vznikajících při šíření ultrazvukového vlnění v pevných látkách. Současné metody ultrazvukového nedestruktivního testování materiálů jsou založeny na analýze odrazu, absorpce a inference elastických vln.V důsledku přítomnosti defektů není potenciální energie atomů přesně harmonická a vznikající signály druhé a třetí harmonické frekvence.Ultrazvuková spektroskopie je efektivní nástroj studia defektů a trhlin v pevných látkách.

Project is designed to improve our knowledge of non-linearity effects arising by propagation of ultrasonic waves in solids. Present ultrasonic non-destructive testing methods of material are based on analysis of elastic waves reflection, absorption andinterference. Defects are sources of the anharmonic atom potential energy and due to this anharmonicity second and third harmonic signals are produced. Ultrasonic spectroscopy is effective tool to study total number of cracks and defects in solid sample.Combination of non-linear ultrasonic spectroscopy with acoustic and electromagnetic emission will improve material and structure characterisation. While electromagnetic and acoustic emission give information on the position of only new createdcracks/defects, this proposed method of non-linear ultrasonic spectroscopy is sensitive to all such defects and then can give information on the material quality and reliability.
