Profile
The aim of the three-year Constructions and Traffic Structures bachelor's study programme is mastering of a comprehensive base of essential theoretical knowledge and general technical knowledge from the whole area of constructions. The theoretical foundation for the course is the natural sciences, mainly the physical/mathematical disciplines, extended in the field of mechanics. The theoretical foundation is further expanded in applied theoretical subjects, i.e. structural mechanics and the design of concrete, masonry, metal and timber, as well as earth structures. The theoretical knowledge is further expanded by tuition in the design and execution of simple supporting constructions, with the inclusion of technological building procedures and economics. The study programme also includes problems connected with the renovation and maintenance of structures. The tuition also covers the design and execution of simple railway structures, and rural and urban roads, again including their renovation and maintenance. Basic urban transport engineering, organization and management of traffic in cities are all also taught. In the final stage of the student's studies, expert knowledge is extended by the production of a bachelor's thesis in the following specializations: Concrete and Masonry Structures, Metal and Timber Structures, Structural mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Design, Construction Quality Control, Roads and Motorways, Railway Structures.
