Study aims
The aim of this programme is to educate experts with comprehensive knowledge in managing information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as in economics and management. Graduates will be able to apply this knowledge in the research, development, implementation, and operation of modern ICT within enterprises. The proposed field of study is designed to meet the trends in educating professionals who possess high adaptability for interdisciplinary development. Graduates will be equipped with knowledge focused on strategic business management concepts, modern approaches to the use of ICT tools for business management, and economic theories in the context of business development. The curriculum of the Master’s programme in Information Management is based on the understanding of the enterprise as a fundamental element of the current business environment. This curriculum has been developed in response to the demand for graduates from companies collaborating with the Faculty of Business. The study programme aligns with current digitalization trends and complies with the Industry 4.0 initiative. The Information Management programme is structured as an academic study program in the field of management. Typical career paths for graduates include roles in enterprise management, business analysis, process engineering, information systems implementation, and consultancy in the efficient deployment of information systems within enterprises. To promote internationalization and enhance language skills, some courses are taught in English. Graduates also have the opportunity to continue their studies in a related doctoral program in economics and management.
Graduate profile
The follow-up Master’s academic programme in Information Management prepares students for the management of business processes and information services in companies and institutions. Graduates are equipped with knowledge of scientific management tools, skills in systemic approaches, and the ability to apply modern ICT to solve complex problems and design or use sophisticated information systems, with a focus on economic and managerial processes and their security. These skills are highly sought after in the current market. Graduates are capable of creatively managing the development of application software in areas such as analysis, security, process approaches, and the design and management of ICT, including communication with users and modelling and simulation of complex business processes using artificial intelligence. The knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired by graduates enable their full competitiveness in both domestic and European labour markets. Their competitive advantage lies in their simultaneous knowledge of ICT issues as well as economics and management. Thus, graduates become interdisciplinary professionals with a broad base of knowledge and skills, capable of responding and quickly adapting to current business practices and trends. Study plan creation
The study plan of the academically oriented Master’s programme in Information Management is designed according to the standards of the National Accreditation Office, the Rules for Study Programmes at BUT, and respecting Directive No. 69/2017, Standards of Study Programmes at BUT. The standard duration of the programme is 2 years (4 semesters). Instruction in the first through third semesters spans 13 weeks, and the fourth semester has a 10-week instruction period, with each semester including a 5-week examination period. The credit system follows ECTS, with a minimum of 120 credits required for the program, and each credit representing 26 hours of student work. Each teaching session lasts 50 minutes. The group of core theoretical subjects forming the foundation includes courses that cover the essential theoretical bases of relevant educational fields. By completing these courses, students acquire key theoretical knowledge essential for achieving the professional expertise outlined in the graduate profile. These courses are optional because proficiency in English is assumed, verified during the entrance exams, and some subjects are taught in English. ● English Conversation ● English for Life ● Business English ● Practical English 2 Courses aimed at preparing for the thesis are designed to develop students' knowledge and skills in academic writing, as well as the competencies necessary for drafting a thesis according to the specified objectives, content, and methodologies. Based on their acquired theoretical knowledge, students address specific practical problems from real-world practice. They are capable of analysing and systematically gathering data and information required to solve problems, and based on these analyses, propose comprehensive solutions that are applicable in practice. ● Term Paper ● Diploma Seminar The following topics are set for the State Final Examination in the Strategic Business Development program: 1. Economics and Management Students of the follow-up Master‘s programme (at the entrance to the 1st year) are required to have English language fluency at the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
